
Writing this blog teaches me so much. If someone had mentioned to me the University of the Third Age (or u3a as it is now known) a year ago, I would have stared at them blankly, presuming this was an establishment Frodo Baggins might have frequented on his travels around Middle-earth. A distraction perhaps from the hassle that pesky ring was causing him.
But how wrong I would have been. No trips to the deep, fiery volcanic chasm in Mordor, you’ll be relieved to know, are required here.
This post will look at what the u3a is, how it can provide both social connection and meaning in life, and how it can contribute to a lifetime of learning that can help foster an active retirement and improve overall wellbeing.
So don your gown, grab your mortarboard, locate your freshers week wristband, and let’s take a look at what the u3a is all about. Either that, or just grab a cuppa.
